About Chef Carl

Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in East Village of New York City. Chef Carl Giardina began making pizzas at the age of 8 at his parents' pizzeria. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Over the years, he has continued to work in the food industry, starting in the family business, then becoming a Food Service Director for Hewlett-Packard for 17 years. His experience and passion for food led him to open his own dining establishment in 1987 called Bachagaloop's Restaurant and Pizzeria in Wayne, New Jersey.

Over its 20 years of operation, Bachagaloop's gained great praise and exposure for its "Make a Pizza" for children, creating many warm family memories. The popularity of these parties led Chef Carl and Bachagaloop's to appearances on local television shows, such as Good Day New York (WNYW - Ch. 5) and coverage in many newspapers and magazines.  Bachagaloop's also received the "Best Family-Friendly Restaurant in New Jersey" from America Online multiple times.

To date, Chef Carl has performed over 6,000 "Make a Pizza" parties in the Tri-State Area. The parties have been held for kids' birthdays in additional to schools, youth organizations and those group catering to persons of special needs. Chef Carl offers a hands-on approach to turning children into little chefs and kitchen helpers.

Though Bachagaloop's officially closed its doors in 2007 after 20 years, Chef Carl continues to show children the art of pizza-making. He also caters to off-site events at schools or a location of your choice.
